The Red Pro Zoom 18-85mm T2.9 lens is impressive when you first see it. For starters, it is BIG. You’d expect that when seeing the focal range of this piece of glass. 
Our first experience with the Epic was interesting. I should note that this review is from the perspective of someone new to the latest Red Digital Cinema cameras. For years I heard horror stories of Red shoots (Overheating issues, boot problems, trouble editing footage) and stayed away from their cameras at all costs.
